Karma came back and got Kansas and Elijah Johnson at the end as the top-seeded Jayhawks blew a 14-point lead with six minutes left, a 10-point lead with 2:30 remaining, an 8-point lead with two minutes remaining and a five-point lead with 21 seconds remaining…and the great coach Bill Self did not foul up 3 on the final possession of the game and Trey Burke drilled a game-tying 3-pointer with 4.8 seconds left from about 35 feet and ultimately lost in OT. Johnson got his by doing his best Phil Pressey impression and pissing down his leg down the stretch, throwing the ball away, taking a 10-second violation, taking bad shots and then the drive and passing up a decent look from 5 feet, instead passing it to an unexpected Naddir Tharpe for a 3 at the buzzer, which missed.
Karma also came back to haunt Kansas fans, who across the city began the “Rock Chalk” chant. JINX!
