Dear kid, Happy Birthday! Love, Willie the Wildcat's foot.
TEAM (1st place votes) Pts 1. LSU (1) 97 Key returnees: CB Tyrann Mathieu, S Eric Reid, DE Sam Montgomery, DE Barkevious Mingo, RB Michael Ford, RB Spencer Ware, WR Russell Shepard, P Brad Wing Key losses: CB Morris Claiborne, DT Michael Brockers, OG Will Blackwell, WR Reuben Randle Sure, LSU lost some talent in the offseason – nine starters – however their defense is still full of studs and the secondary still features Tyrann "the Honey Badger" Mathieu. And, with the addition of juco transfer Zack Mettenberger, the offense - which returns the running back combo of Spencer Ware and Michael Ford, the Tigers are improved on offense without the woeful quarterback combo of Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee directing the offense, which was still good enough to go 13-1 and play the BCS National Championship Game. The Tigers will still be a run-oriented team, ball control team, but Mettenberger - who showed off a strong and accurate arm [Read more...]
Yes it is true and it is officially here. College football will now be settled by a 4-team playoff and while it won't totally eliminate all controversy, it definitely feels a whole lot better. So here's what we know so far: The championship game will be bid on like the Superbowl or Final Four. The semi-final games will be rotated amongst the current BCS bowls. The 4 teams will be chosen by a selection committee. Like I said, this new playoff system won't eliminate controversy. There will be plenty of years where the difference between the #4 and #5 teams is miniscule. And watch all the critics cry foul when three SEC teams make it into the playoffs, which is bound to happen. But that kind of controversy I can live with, because whoever wins that 4-team playoff will have earned it. *** LINKS SB Nation: College Football Playoffs Are Here: 4-Team System Begins In 2014 SB Nation: College Football Playoff Schedule Should Look Familiar SB Nation: New 12-Year Contract [Read more...]

"Hardest thing I have ever done, signing my $2 million contract and having to call my former players who can barely afford to eat," Martin said on Twitter after his press conference. "So tough." S. Carolina would pay Martin 66 percent of guaranteed money per year for remaining years of his contract if he were to be fired. If Martin leaves after one year, he will owe USC 4M. Drops to 3M, then 1.5M. South Carolina also paid 1M to K-State for Martin's buyout. "You have to do your due diligence, and quite frankly, I think we got [Read more...]
Moments before tipoff with No. 1 seed Syracuse in the East region, Kansas State announced that senior forward Jamar Samuels will not play today due to an "eligibility concern." “Jamar Samuels is currently unavailable for today’s game, because of an eligibility concern,” said K-State athletic director John Currie. “We are working diligently to try and resolve it even right now. Jamar Samuels has worked extremely hard academically and athletically throughout his career. We are certainly going to do everything we can to advocate for him.” The 6-7 Samuels, who did not attempt a shot in Thursday's win over So. Miss, is on the bench. He is averaging 10.3 points, 6.6 rebounds per game. K-State is 12-1 this year when he has a double-double. Freshman Thomas Gipson will start in his spot.
