He is one game way from his fourth. Tennessee has not been able to hold on to leads this season, then they fixed that by deciding to play from behind and comeback and win. That was a bold strategy and it paid off. Baylor wideout Cory Coleman has 13 touchdowns; Kansas as a team (offense, defense, and special teams) [Read more...]

Alabama was in this same position last season and won out to still make the playoff. [Read more...]

Ohio State may miss the deep threat of Devin Smith more than we realize. This person mentioned that Ohio State is superior in size and talent and should roll Western Michigan. Western Michigan is no [Read more...]

Week 3 College Football Ramblings

Heisman Favorites 1.     QB Trevone Boykin (TCU) Last Week: 21-30, 454, 5 TD, 1 INT 2.     RB Leonard Fournette (LSU) Last Week: 19-228 3 TD 3.     RB Nick Chubb (Georgia) Last Week: 21-155-3 (11th straight 100-yard game) 4.     QB Cody Keesler (USC) Last Week: 25-32, 272, 3 TD 5.     RB Ezekiel Elliot (Ohio St.) Last Week: 28-101 Outside Looking in QB Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) Last Week: 32-38, 487, 4 TD; school-record 572 total yards RB Derrick Henry (Alabama) Playoff Predictions Ohio State TCU Georgia UCLA Only a win (or loss) away Baylor Mississippi Michigan State BYU received a taste of its own medicine and allows UCLA to mount fourth quarter comeback. Riley’s Huskers have a lot of fight, but do they have any teeth? Can they finish one of these close games? Riley is known as a really nice guy, but Husker nation is not going to handle losing this way. I felt that the Huskers will be better this year, but their [Read more...]

College Football’s Week 3 Marquee Matchups and Upset Special Alerts

There was some great action last week. Oregon/Michigan State lived up to the hype, BYU had another Hail Mary prayer answered, and the mighty SEC West had a humbling weekend with Arkansas falling to Toledo and Auburn needing overtime to squeak by FCS Jacksonville State. Week 3 has the potential to be equally as exciting, so just like last week, we'll check out the biggest match-ups and see which teams are on upset alert. Marquee Match-ups: Auburn at #LSU (Saturday, 2:30, CBS) Auburn is making me look foolish for picking them to win the SEC and make the playoff. Sloppy performances against Louisville and Jacksonville State make it hard to pick them at LSU. Les Miles' bunch is fresh off a nice road win over Mississippi State. In a tight game, Leonard Fournette does enough and LSU capitalizes on some Jeremy Johnson turnovers. Prediction: 24-20 LSU Georgia Tech at Notre Dame (Saturday, 2:30, NBC) This is Georgia Tech's first real test of the season after blowing out Alcorn [Read more...]

Week 2 College Football Ramblings

Heisman Favorites 1.     QB Trevone Boykin (TCU) 2.     Ohio State player of your choice 3.     QB Cody Keesler (USC) 4.     RB Leonard Fournette (LSU) 5.      RB Nick Chubb (Georgia) Playoff Predictions 1.     Ohio State 2.     TCU 3.     Georgia 4.     UCLA Only a win (or loss) away ·       USC ·       Alabama ·       Michigan State BYU and Tanner Mangum do it again! Jim Mora might want to have a meeting with his clock operator this week to make sure that BYU does not pull off another late 4th quarter TD. Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma QB, appears to be a gamer. His stats were not spectacular, 19-39 187 yds, 3 Td, 2 INT (43.2 QBR), but he made play after play to bring OU back from 17-0 to beat a good Tennessee team on the road (the Sooner defense should also get a lot of credit.) Coming out of high school - the same school as Todd Reesing, Garrett Gilbert, and Michael Brewer - Mayfield had one scholarship offer to from Florida Atlantic. After [Read more...]

College Football’s Week 2 Marquee Matchups and Upset Special Alerts

The Oregon Duck and Michigan State University Sparty have a little fun on the ESPN College GameDay platform. The No. 3 Oregon Ducks play the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon on Sept. 6, 2014. (Ryan Kang/Emerald)

Week one of the 2015 college football campaign didn't disappoint. Let's take a look at the week two slate, highlight some big games and see which teams are in danger.  Marquee Match-ups 18 Boise State at 23 BYU (Saturday, 9:15, ESPN2)  What will BYU do for an encore after that thrilling win at Nebraska last week? Tanner Mangum will continue to quarterback the Cougars after coming on in relief last Saturday when starter, Taysom Hill, broke his leg. Boise took care of business in week one, beating Washington 16-13 last Thursday. Defense travels and BYU will have a little hangover from the Nebraska game. Prediction: 27-17 Boise State 17 Oklahoma at 22 Tennessee (Saturday, 5:00, ESPN) We'll see if there's any substance to the Tennessee-hype here when Bob Stoops and company visit the Vols in Knoxville. Both teams cruised to easy wins against MAC opponents last week. A bit troubling for Tennessee is their defense, which allowed 600+ yards of offense to Bowling Green. This [Read more...]

You could not have asked for a worse start for the B1G. That being said, the conference needs credit for scheduling some big time opponents like Alabama, Stanford, BYU (twice), TCU, Oregon, Miami (FL), Oregon St., Utah, Pitt, Virginia Tech (2), North Carolina, and West Virginia early on this season. Fans in burnt orange should be concerned, they played a tough opponent but we extremely overmatched, not what they want to see out of their Horns early in the season. The rest of us love it. Now, they have [Read more...]
