This stuff is awesome and made us laugh, you should like it too (5/27/13)

Some awesome stuff from the past week, some sports related, some not. Enjoy. There are all sorts of mistakes in this one, brought to you by our very own Fox Sorts Kansas City. I guess they are taking after the very team they broadcast. How many mistakes can you find? Instead of Bryce Harper they named him “Bryce Hunter.” Bryce Harper plays for the Washington Nationals and not the Detroit Tigers. They listed Matt Harvey as “Matt Jones.” Matt Harvey plays for the New York Mets and not for the Baltimore Orioles. They got Manny Machado’s name correct, but then put him on the Chicago White Sox instead of the Orioles. I am not sure if this is foreshadowing, but as of right now superstar Mike Trout is currently a member of the Los Angeles Angels and not the New York Yankees. And there was this gem from Thursday night as a fan ran onto the field at the K…and stole the rosin bag: This is the best rosin bag incident this year since the Pirates April Fools joke on pitcher AJ [Read more...]

Have you seen this Norwegian trick-shot kicker “kickalicious” the Lions signed? You should

If you haven’t heard of Norwegian kicker Havard Rugland, you should have. He’s the dude who became a YouTube sensation by kicking footballs from the beach into the ocean, which sounds like a really easy thing to do. Even his competition for the Lions kicking job this upcoming season David Akers, who went from breaking the 49ers’ team scoring record in 2011 to almost losing his job last year, could hit the ocean from the beach. But…have you seen this guy?

Video: David Ortiz with best F-bomb of all-time

"Big Papi" David Ortiz returned to the Boston lineup in time for the the Red Sox first game at Fenway since the Boston Marathon bombings and the best part of the over-the-top pre-game ceremony was David Ortiz's f-bomb on national TV in a "touching speech" to the sold-out Fenway. I had to watch it three times just to make sure it is really what he said. Enjoy:

Four years ago today: Missouri ends Memphis 27-game win streak, advances to Elite 8

March 26, 2009 – Third-seeded Mizzou ends No. 2 Memphis’ 27-game win-streak with a 101-92 win in the West regional semifinal at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona behind a career-game from JT Tiller. Tiller, the Big scored a career-high 23 points - 15 in the first half (seven more than his season average) – to pace the Tigers, who advanced to their second Elite 8 in seven years. Memphis trailed by as many as 24 points (four minutes into the second half) before cutting it to six (89-83) with 2:14 remaining, before Missouri put the game away at the line, where they went 30-of-45 Missouri’s high-octane offense and pressure defense proved too much for Tyreke Evans (who scored a game-high 33 points) and Memphis, the defending National runner-up on a quest for a fourth straight Elite 8. Freshman Marcus Denmon hit a three-quarters court shot at the half to put the Tigers up 49-36 in what was an overwhelming 27-7 run that spanned the last four minutes of the first half and [Read more...]

Florida Gulf Coast welcomes you to “Dunk City”

Florida Gulf Coast, a beautiful campus on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico located in Ft. Myers, Florida, became America's darling after upsetting Georgetown Friday night, leading by as many as 19 points, becoming just the seventh 15-seed in NCAA history to win a NCAA Tournament game and as I post this, they are on the verge of becoming the first 15-seed to make it to the Sweet 16. Not bad for a school that was granted full Division 1 status just 591 days ago and had to go D1 because no D2 conference wanted them. Wow. The official FGCU Twitter account sent out the tweet heard 'round the world. Well, now Dunk City has an anthem - courtesy of Black Magic and Bambi. I can't wait for the next edition.
