11:39 p.m: Now the Pac 12, Pac-XX or Pac-whatever its called has decided to play its hand in this ultimate poker match, otherwise known as this never-ending drama known as Conference Realignment. Quoting one of my friends, who said, "Will This ever end?" I agree, friend. Anyway, Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott announced that the Pac-12 will NOT seek expansion. His full statement: WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — In light of the widespread speculation about potential scenarios for Conference re-alignment, the Pac-12 Presidents and Chancellors have affirmed their decision to remain a 12-team conference. Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said, “after careful review we have determined that it is in the best interests of our member institutions, student-athletes and fans to remain a 12-team conference. While we have great respect for all of the institutions that have contacted us, and certain expansion proposals were financially attractive, we have a strong conference structure and culture [Read more...]
Here comes Conference Armageddon Where will your team end up in conference realignment/expansion? Brian Graham, KC Sports Nation Personally, I am sick and tired of the daily drama known as conference expansion/realignment. It gives me a headache everytime I think of all the possible outcomes. Last time there was a lot of smoke, but not much fire. Today could be day that the wildfire goes out of control and the final domino falls for all hell breaking loose, setting the stage for Conference Armageddon. With all the fate of the Big 12 supposedly in the hands of Oklahoma and Texas, and everyone focusing on what they were going to do, Missouri could be the one that blows it all up. Reports surfaced today that Mizzou is on their way to the SEC, and it gaining momentum. If this is the case, the sooner the better. Whether your team ends up in some sort of new conference, the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-whatever it is called, or somewhere else, lets get this thing over [Read more...]
New York--New York Yankee closer Mariano Rivera earned his 602nd career save Monday with a 6-4 win over visiting Minnesota, not that anyone cares. Rivera surpasses Trevor Hoffman (601) on the career saves leader. Is Rivera the greatest closer ever? P.S. I hate the Yankees. Rivera's record-setting day
Matt Cassel – F Cassel is confirming what I’ve suspected for a long while. He’s not that good. Watching the two opposing quarterbacks we’ve played so far has me feeling like a jaded housewife locked into a passionless marriage longing for the strong arms of a Fitzpatrick or Stafford to sweep me away. In case you don’t get my point, I’d rather have about 28 other league quarterbacks right now over Matt Cassel. Jamal Charles' Knee - F I wish I could blame that damn Lions’ mascot but it appears the injury occurred before he rolled into that silly Lion. Sadly I would feel a little better if that mascot also tore his ACL.
Happy Monday, Kansas City. It’s a great day to be a Kansas Citian. The Chiefs and Kansas were embarrassed, "Vicious" Victor Ortiz was ko'd by Money Mayweather's sucker-punch, the Royals lost their winning streak, and oh yeah, the Big 12 Conference is ready to implode as Conference Armageddon is upon us. Which was worse the Chiefs pitiful loss or Kansas epic record-setting loss? If you are a KU and Chiefs fan, I feel for yeah, this had to be one of the worst weekends you’ve experienced, EVER. The Chiefs got embarrassed 48-3 at Detroit Sunday, their second straight blowout loss. But that’s not the biggest loss. Jamaal Charles is done for the season with a torn ACL, marking consecutive weeks the Chiefs have lost a Pro Bowler with a season-ending ACL injury. It’s going to be a long season for the Chiefs (0-2) without Charles and their best defensive player (Eric Berry).
The Chiefs season unofficially ended in the 1st quarter of yesterday's game as Jamaal Charles was carted off the field with an ACL tear ending his season. To ease some of the pain, I watched Andrew Luck highlights on YouTube. I feel a little better.
Associated Press ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Missouri Western players save toddler out of a locked car on a day when temperatures reached 95 degrees. Defensive backs Jack Long and Shane Simpson were driving away from football practice on Aug. 23 when they saw a woman frantically beating on the window of a car. They decided to turn around and see if they could help. "We thought she maybe had locked her keys in the car, but then thought that was kind of an extreme thing to do for keys," said Long. When they stopped, Teresa Gall told them she had accidentally locked her 17-month-old grandson, Liam, in the car -- with the keys. "I was panicked and horrified," Gall told KSHB-TV. "He was crying and getting sick, and I couldn't get to him." She and other family members weren't able to break the window while Liam was throwing up and beginning to lose consciousness. "I couldn't believe it. We were hitting the glass as hard as we could and nothing," Gall said. "All I could think was [Read more...]
Brian Graham, KCSportsNation The Royals are well out of the race, so they have nothing to play for, right? Don’t tell them that. The young Royals won their seventh straight game Saturday night, 10-3, sending the White Sox to their seventh straight loss. Mike Moustakas hit his third homerun (4) in four games, extending his hitting streak to seven games. Moustakas is hitting .519 in the streak.
Matt Cassel – D He collapses under pressure like a man being shot in community theatre. It reminds me of Elvis Grbac, but at least when Elvis did throw the ball he averaged more than 3 yards per completion. He remains a must start in PPR fantasy leagues because of his proficiency for catching his own batted passes. Jamal Charles – D He ran the ball okay when he got the chance, but anytime you put the ball on the ground you won’t get a passing grade from me.
